On March 12, 2015, a seminar on "Changes in the legal regime of real estate in the Civil Code. Law enforcement practices" took place. The event was organized by the St. Petersburg International Business Association (SPIBA) in cooperation with Iusland Law Offices.

Reformation of the Civil Code of the Russian Federation implies a transformation of legal regulation of real rights in real estate; amendments into the Civil Code on real property have been adopted and came into force. These changes open many new opportunities for lawyers, but also pose a number of questions and concerns, neglecting of which implies serious risks in the area of registration, protection and circulation of title to real estate.

Vsevolod Baibak, Partner of Iusland Law Offices, within the given topic talked about amendments into the general provisions of the Civil Code on real estate, new aspects in regulation of lease relations, as well as changes in the regulation of real estate collateral.

The presentation part followed by discussion on various aspects of the Civil Code of the Russian Federation reformation of the in the area of regulation of real estate.

Of particular interest was the principle of a single real estate object and its implementation in law and practice. Participants discussed the correlation between new provisions of the Civil Code on pledge and the law on mortgage, as well as the problems of registration of contracts concluded in respect of immovable property.

Representatives of major consulting firms as well as Russian and international companies participated in the seminar.
